Lucille Broeking Reed, 92, Noblesville, died Thursday, October 25, 2018, in Noblesville, Indiana. She was born January 3, 1926 in Indianapolis to Arthur G. Broeking and Linna Schopp Broeking, and was their only child.
Lucy was a graduate of Thomas Carr Howe High School (Indianapolis) in 1944, and of Purdue University in 1948 where she majored in Home Economics and was a member of Mortar Board and the Pi Beta Phi Sorority.
Following graduation, she married Robert G. Reed, Jr., and she worked to support the family as he completed Medical School at Indiana University. They moved to Plymouth, Indiana where Bob had a Family Practice from 1951 to 1967, and they raised their 5 children. After Bob completed a Pathology Residency in 1971, they moved to Columbus, Indiana where they lived until 1989. They then retired to Fairhope, Alabama where they enjoyed their later years before returning to Noblesville in 2004 to be closer to family.
Lucy was active in volunteer organizations, belonged to Tri Kappa in Plymouth, was a member of PEO in Columbus, enjoyed Baldwin Senior Travelers in Fairhope, and attended Harbour Shores Church in Cicero.
Lucy's husband Bob died in 2010. She is survived by her 5 children: Susan Elizabeth Reed (Jeff Lewis) of Indianapolis, Barbara Diane Reed (Philip Zazove) of Ann Arbor, MI, Judith Ann Reed (Mark Coons, deceased) of Austin, TX, Patricia Reed Paxton (Jim) of Noblesville, IN, and Michael Robert Reed of Beech Grove, IN; as well as her sister-in-law, Mary Jo Wells (Clayton) of Holt, Michigan; 8 grandchildren (Reed, Rebecca S., Katie, Rebecca D., David, Michael C, Michael P, and Ann); and 7 great-grandchildren (Georgia, Emma, RW, Schroeter, Paxton, Owen, and Zachary).
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday November 21, 2018 at 10:00 am at Randall and Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville, Indiana.
