Lyle Howell

Lyle M. Howell, 83, of Noblesville, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. He was born on April 5, 1930 to Frank and Ovie (Baird) Howell in Kirkland, Indiana.
Lyle retired from Western Electric after 34 years of service, and then went on to retire from Sweitzer's Printing and Office Supplies. He grew up in Jolietville and was a 1948 graduate of Westfield High School, where he was a member of the 1947 undefeated football team. Lyle was one of the seven original men responsible for bringing the Noblesville Babe Ruth complex to life in the early 60's from an overgrown field of weeds, to a clean, lighted field that was one of the best in the state. He coached many youth baseball and basketball teams. As an early young man, Lyle enjoyed hunting, fishing, hunting mushrooms, bowling and playing cards.
He is survived by wife of 64 years, Carolyn (Cottingham) Howell; daughter, Kathy (Vernon) Zook, sons, Steve (Denise) Howell & Mike (Michelle) Howell; four grandchildren, Steve (Lana) Zook, Amy (Craig) Lutz, and Mikayla & Marlena Howell; six great-grandchildren, and three nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ivalou Eikenberry Land and Crystal Miessen.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street in Noblesville, with Rev. Stanley R. Sutton officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Spencer Cemetery in Sheridan.
