Lynn B. Shonk, 54, of Noblesville, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2009 after a courageous and dignified two-year battle with cancer. Lynn never lost her enthusiasm for life and remained ever dedicated to her family, friends, and community. She never met a stranger and considered all of the doctors, nurses, and medical staff new friends.
Lynn graduated from Ewing High School, NJ in 1972 and Indiana University in 1976. She was greatly involved in the Noblesville community; awards, positions, and memberships include: Bethel Lutheran Church, Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, Indiana University HPER Alumni Association, PEO sister chapter DG, Boys & Girls Club Auxiliary, Volunteer of the Year - Phyllis Whitcomb Green Award, Noblesville High School Athletic Department Volunteer, Past President of Tri-Kappa and Tri-Kappa Associate Chapter, Past Member and President of Harbour Trees Golf Club Women's League , Past Member and Club Champion of The Sagamore Club, Past President of Stony Creek Elementary and middle school PTO.
Lynn was an avid golfer and bridge player, a wonderful cook, and a wine enthusiast. All those who knew her, however, knew that her greatest passion was being a mother. The family would like to thank her army of supporters throughout the last two years.
On June 11, 1977 she married William Shonk, he survives. Other survivors include her son, Scott Shonk; daughter-in-law, Laura Shonk; daughter, Sally Shonk; parents, Clayton & Dorothy Brower; brother, David Brower; sister, Carol Moyles; brother-in-law, Christopher Moyles; nephew, Clay Moyles.
She is preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Faye Shonk and father-in-law, Harold Shonk.
Friends and family will gather from 1-3PM Sunday, January 18, 2009 with a Memorial Service at 3PM in the White River Christian Church, 1685 N. 10th St., Noblesville, IN. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Lynn Shonk Fund at the Indiana Golf Foundation, P.O. Box 516, Franklin, IN 46131.
