Maralyn Ann Burton, 82, passed away peacefully, after an extended illness, on Sunday, July 14, 2013, at her home in Fishers, Indiana.
She was born on December 20, 1930, in Mitchell, Indiana, to Otha and Louise (Logan) Fletcher, both of whom preceded her in death.
On January 14, 1951, she married Dr. Robert Burton in Mitchell, who survives.
She studied pipe organ at the Catholic Sisters Music School in Bedford while in high school. After graduating from Mitchell High School in 1949 she attended DePauw University where she studied in the School of Music.
Maralyn was honored to be a private pipe-organ, piano, and voice instructor for over 40 years. For many years she was the pipe organist for First United Methodist Church in Seymour, Indiana. For 12 years Maralyn was the director of the Hoosier Girls State music program. She was a board member of the Bank of Mitchell and the Mitchell Development Corporation.
In previous years she had been a member of several organizations including: Kappa, Kappa, Kappa Sorority of Seymour, Indiana; Sigma Eta Rho; National Fine Arts Society; American Guild of Organists; Indianapolis Symphony State Women's Society; and the Seymour Civic Arts Guild Madrigal Singers.
Survivors include her husband; three sons and their wives - Scott (Mary) Burton of Auburn, Indiana, Brian (Susan) Burton and Thomas (Julie) Burton of Fishers, Indiana; grandchildren (spouses) include Christina (Loring) Jackson, Nicholas Burton, Andrew Burton, Kelli (Kyle) Smythe, Sarah Burton, and Fletcher Burton, and one great-granddaughter, Leah Jackson. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law - David and Joan Fletcher of Carmel, Indiana; three nephews, and two nieces, and many extended family members.
Maralyn was an honored daughter, sister, wife, mother, civic-minded volunteer, and a wonderful friend. Her family and friends will miss her dearly.

Funeral arrangements are being made by Randall & Roberts Funeral Home in Fishers, Indiana. Viewing will be on Saturday, July 20, 2013 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest following a graveside service on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Mitchell, Indiana Cemetery.
