Margaret "Margie" Elizabeth Chiplis, 93, of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at home. She was born on January 13, 1920 to John and Clara (Hansman) Burkhard in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Margaret was retired after 15 years as a nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove. She was a graduate of St. Vincent School of Nursing in 1941. She was an active member of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, Indianapolis,where she became a choir director and played the organ, also being awarded the St. John Bosco Award in 1962 for outstanding contribution with CYO. She later became a member of St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church in Fishers, and enjoyed quilting, and giving them to her family.
She is survived by daughters, Leslie Chiplis, Jeannine (Ronald) Riley and Susanne (Tom) Fales; son, James (Pamela) Chiplis; sister, Joann Yurcho; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; and daughter in law, Paula Chiplis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Daniel Chiplis; seven brothers & sisters; and her husband, Felix Chiplis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church, 11441 Hague Road, in Fishers, with visitation beginning at 9:30 am immediately prior to the service. Rev. Patrick Click will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Indianapolis.
