Marian P. Crooks, 78 years old, passed away at home on May 15, 2008 after an extended illness.
She was a devoted mother/wife and loved to work with children and music. She was very active in her church, taught Sunday school, participated in Bible study, enjoyed working with the telecare ministry, sang in choirs, directed childrens choir and gave piano lessons. She was a Church Council member, Girl Scout leader, 4-H leader, office manager and owned a real estate business.
Marian was born Marian Pearl Monroe in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on May 4, 1930, to Pauline and Howard Monroe and had no siblings. After her mother's death she was adopted and raised by her grandparents Gertrude and David DeWitt.
She graduated from Waterloo High School in 1949 and attended Purdue, Butler and IU Universities.
Marian and Robert W. Crooks were high school sweethearts and were married April 7, 1950.
Marian helped Robert in his engineering business and helped around the farm where they lived. She enjoyed the farm life and loved "mothering" the farm critters. In her spare time she enjoyed reading mystery novels and watching detective shows on television. Marian and Robert learned and enjoyed square dancing and round dancing. They visited Europe, Scandinavia, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and much of the United States where they liked meeting the people and seeing the scenery.
Marian was preceded in death by infant son Gregory Allen and is survived by husband Robert and daughters Cheryl Lynn Crooks and Kathy Jo Crooks.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
Calling will be on Sunday, May 18, 2008 from 2 to 5PM at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home at 1150 East Logan Street, Noblesville. Services will be at 11:00AM on Monday, May 19 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
