Marjorie Haskin, 89, Noblesville, passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2010. She was a lifelong resident of Indianapolis until 1993 when she moved to Noblesville. She was born October 5, 1920 to John C. and Nell (O'Neal) Walsh.
Mrs. Haskin graduated Cum Laude from Butler University in 1942. She became a Registered Medical Technologist with the American Society of Clinical Pathology in 1945.
She received a Master's Degree in Educational Administration whereby acquiring a Principal license and a Consultant license in 1965. She was a lifelong member of the Registered Medical Technologists. Marjorie taught 21 years in the Indianapolis Public School system (105) retiring in 1981. For the past 30 years, she has been a member of the Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA). She was a member of the Horticultural Society of the IMA; and also an Alliance member of the IMA and the Art Study Group #6 of the IMA. She did volunteer work for the Operational Fund Drives of the IMA. She was also a flower arranger for the Lilly House for many years.
Marjorie was a four-year member of the Delta Gamma Sorority at the Alpha Tau Chapter at Butler University. She remained an active alumnae of this chapter until her death. She was a supporter of the National Foundation of Delta Gamma National Fraternity whereby attaining the rank of President Link, and a member of the Rose Group of Delta Gamma.
She was a member of the Indianapolis Art Center; the Indianapolis Historical Society; the Indiana Gardens Center; and the Indiana Teachers Retirement Group.
She was a member of the American Association of University Women in Noblesville; the Blatchley Nature Study Group of Noblesville; the Garden Club; North Harbor Out to Lunch Bunch; Hamilton County Teachers Retirement Group; Our Lady of Grace Rosary Society; and Our Lady of Grace Bridge Club, which she founded.
She was also a carolian supporter of Butler University. She was on the Board for the 50th, 55th, 60th, & 65th class reunions of 1942.
Mrs. Haskin is survived by her daughter, Helen (Lucy) Kunz; two sons, John H. Haskin and Robert A Haskin; and brother, John Walsh.
Her sister, Rosemary Walsh, preceded her in death in 1989. Marjorie is the widow of Edwin Haskin, who passed away in 1987.
She has seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
She was an avid Bridge player and flower arranger. She liked to travel and go on cruises.
Visitation will be held at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1685 Westfield Road in Noblesville from 4:00-8:00PM on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 with services on at 11:00AM on Thursday, June 8 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Noblesville. Burial will be at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Indianapolis.
A luncheon will be held at Our Lady of Grace Church after the burial service. Everyone is invited.
