Marjorie Ann Hinshaw, age 82, passed peacefully into eternal life on the morning of September 7, 2010 in her home. She was born to Leonard and Esther Stubbs on October 14, 1927. She was raised in Noblesville, IN and graduated from Noblesville High School in 1945.
Marjorie was a secretary for the US Air Force, Firestone, and Statesman Insurance. She was an exemplary wife, mother, and grandmother. She showed her love through the work of her hands. Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting, knitting, gardening, sewing, baking and cooking. She used these abilities to give to her family and society. One example includes the many dolls, blankets, and scarves she made for underprivileged children. Marjorie was a member of Cumberland Road Christian Church, Eastern Star, and Ruth's Woman's Circle, and received awards from PrimeLife Enrichment for her extensive volunteer services. Additionally, she was a generous contributor to the Disabled American Veterans.
She is survived by Alton West Hinshaw, whom she married on an Easter Sunday April 6, 1946. They were happily married for 64 years. When asked by her granddaughter to reflect on the happiest memory of her life she replied, "The day your grandfather asked me to marry him." They raised four children together in Arcadia, IN - Teresa Ann (Paul) Coverdale, Jody Jean (Charles) Jones, and Gary Alton Hinshaw.
As she raised her children, Marjorie was an active member of Arcadia Christian Church. She was the Youth Director for Arcadia Christian Church and Youth of Arcadia. After raising their children in a meticulously clean farm house in Arcadia, IN they moved to their current residence in Noblesville.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her brother; William Robert Stubbs; six grandchildren - Todd Coverdale, Jim (Crissy) Coverdale, Tammy (Bill) Northern, Deirdre (Stephen) Howard, Clinton Jones and Jonathan Coverdale; and eight great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her daughter, Pamela Denise Dorris; grandson, Paul Allen Coverdale Jr.; and sister and brother-in-law, Francis & Gene Stubbs Martin.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1685 Westfield Rd in Noblesville. Friends may call on Friday, September 10 from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lincoln Memory Gardens in Zionsville.
