Martha J. Bockrath, 85, of Noblesville, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. She was born on February 22, 1930 to Russell and Mary Opal (Wilburn) Gunning in Tipton County, Indiana.
Martha retired from teaching after 30 years with Hamilton Southeastern Schools, where she taught first grade. She was a 1948 graduate of Tipton High School; and received her Bachelor's degree in 1952 and her Master's degree in 1969 from Ball State University. She was a member of Fishers United Methodist Church; loved animals and crossword puzzles; and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her children, Michael E. (Sue) Bockrath, Cinda L. (David) Ritter, and Susan J. Daupert; grandchildren, Bradley (Kristen) Bockrath, Melanie (Eric) Cross, Joshua (Jaci) Daupert, and Kelly Ritter; and great-grandchildren, Brooke Bockrath, and Gabriel Cross.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Phillip E. Bockrath who passed away in 2001; brother, Jim Gunning; and sister, Phyllis Baitz.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St in Noblesville, with visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Pastor Kevin McKinney will officiate. Burial will be at Arcadia Cemetery.
