Mary Louise Ambre

Mary Louise Ambre, 94, Noblesville, IN, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Auguste Cottage, Riverwalk Commons in Noblesville. The daughter of Howard and Mary Carlson, she was born on March 1, 1918, in Chicago and grew up in Whiting, IN, graduating from Whiting High School. She spent most of her adult life in Gary, IN where she worked for the Gary National Bank and Gordon's Department Store.
In 1945 Mary Lou married Thomas Ambre. She was active in the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and the Girl Scouts, and was a sacristan and seamstress at Holy Angels Cathedral for many years. She was an Associate of the Sisters of Saints Cyril and Methodius.
Mary Lou is survived by four children, Jeanne Ambre, SS.C.M. of Danville PA, Mark (Melissa) Ambre of Noblesville IN, Leo (Evelyn) Ambre of Las Vegas NV, and Marie (Peter) Dombrowski of Cudahy WI; two sisters, Alice Dauro of Los Angeles CA, & Rita Jane Glazebrook of Portland OR; grandchildren, Laura Jordan of Salemsburg NC, Erin Ambre of Alsip IL, Allison Ambre of St. Louis MO, Neal (Jill) Ambre of Dallas TX, Meghan (Ryan) Vogt of Fishers IN, Blase, Diana and Rachel Dombrowski of Cudahy WI; and great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Victoria Jordan of Salemsburg NC, and Bowen Vogt of Fishers IN.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; two sons, Harry Stephen and Rev. John T. Ambre; her brother, Edmund and his wife Lee; three brothers-in-law, Hank Robison, Al Dauro and Thomas Glazebrook; one daughter-in-law, Rebecca Jayne Ambre; and one grandson Ryan Michael Ambre.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, March 16, 2012 at St. Mark Church, 505 West Ridge Road in Gary, IN, with calling beginning at 10:00AM immediately prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities of Gary.
