Mary Jane Carey

Mary Jane (Jones) Carey, 92, Westfield, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009. She was born August 21, 1916 in Hortonville, Indiana to Chester and Hallie (Horton) Jones.
Mary Jane attended elementary school in Hortonville and was a graduate of Westfield High School. She was a homemaker and worked as a cook for Westfield Schools for 25 years. Mary Jane was a lifetime member of the Hortonville United Methodist Church where she played the organ for 50 years. She was a charter member of the Friendly Eagles Home-Ec Club, was a Gray Lady volunteer at Riverview Hospital for 30 years, and worked for Open Doors in Westfield. She played in a euchre club for 50 years and enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participating in various activities. Mary Jane lived in or around Hortonville all of her life where her family was the founding family of Hortonville, Indiana.
She is survived by daughter, Linda (Bill) Field of Arcadia, IN; daughter, Mary Ann (Gary) White of Westfield, IN; son, Walter (Martha) Carey of Westfield, IN; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Carey; daughter, Patricia Rasnake; and brothers, Monte Jones and Isaac Jones.
Services will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home in Noblesville, with Rev. Peter O'Hara officiating. Friends may call Friday, April 24, 2:00 - 8:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Summit Lawn Cemetery in Westfield.
