Mary Pat Helmer Hougendobler, 54, of Noblesville passed away unexpectedly February 16, 2014. Mary grew up on the west side of Indianapolis, and was a graduate of Cardinal Ritter High School. She most recently worked as an administrative assistant at Orchard Software in Carmel, IN. Mary was best known for her charisma, quick wit, and beautiful smile and for her gorgeous golden hair. Mary loved animals, especially her 21 year old cat Feisty, who went to cat heaven in July. She was a loving aunt to all of her nieces and nephews and their children, and was a spirited "baby sister" in the Helmer family. A consummate worrier and chatterbox, her husband told her "I may not be a good listener, but I'm a constant one".
Mary is survived by her husband, Ed; sisters Joanne L (Danny, deceased) Koss; Susan A. (Mike) Fay; brothers, Vincent J. (Marlene) Helmer Jr.; Robert S. (Ann) Helmer; Thomas P. (Cheryl) Helmer; James J. (Lisa) Helmer; and Dennis (Marsha) Morrison; and mother-in-law, Nancy Hougendobler; 5 nieces, 7 nephews and 23 great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent J and Patricia (Farrell) Helmer and sister, Christine Helmer.
A memorial mass will take place at 10:30 AM on Friday, February 21 at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Speedway, with visitation at the church one hour prior to the start of the service.
