Michael Allen Flynn, age 65, passed away at home surrounded by his wife and children in Fishers, Indiana, on Wednesday, March 16, 2011. Born in Marion, Indiana, to Charles and Elizabeth (Thompson) Flynn, he was a 1963 graduate of Marion High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army enlisting in 1963. He managed several Osco Drug stores retiring after 38 years. He also co-owned Super Tans, was a REALTOR for several years, and employed with Ryland Homes. He was baptized at and attended Heartland Church.
Mike will be especially remembered for his deep Christian faith, strong work ethic, and loving care for family and friends.
Last month Mike celebrated 45 years of marriage to his wife Joyce (McKee) Flynn and is survived by his children Michele Flynn Schulhof and Dr. Brad (Nicole) Flynn and his grandchildren, who referred to him as "Poppy", Cameron Michael Schulhof, and two granddaughters.
Surviving siblings are Ralph Flynn, Marion, James (Lynda) Flynn, Bull Head City, Arizona, Robert (Carol) Flynn, Marion, Homer (Susie) Flynn, Gas City, Patricia Flynn, St. Petersburg, Florida, and Linda (Flynn) Richey, Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Fred Flynn, Cecil Flynn and Virginia (Flynn) Hoefer.
Calling will be Sunday, March 20 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 12010 Allisonville Road, Fishers, Indiana from 2:00p to 6:00p and funeral services will be Monday, March 21 at Heartland Church 9665 Hague Road, Indianapolis, Indiana at 11:00a. Relatives and friends are welcome at the reception at Heartland Church immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the Flynn family has asked that a memorial contribution be made to The Salvation Army www.salvationarmy.org or to Africa Water is Life www.africawaterislife.com/donate/ (please reference the Mike Flynn well). Africa Water is Life is a local World Hope International initiative that raises money to drill clean water wells in developing countries in Africa. Your contribution will go directly towards drilling a well in Mike's name for the Pateque village in Mozambique.
