Morna Jane Charles, 94, of Noblesville, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. She was born on June 19, 1923 to Harold A. Slifer and Willis G. Kelley in Richmond, Indiana.
Morna graduated from Richmond High School in 1941. She lived in St. Petersburg, FL for 7 years where she worked for General Electric. Morna returned to Richmond where she retired after many years from Elder Beerman department store. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Noblesville, a former member Faith Trinity Methodist Church in Richmond, and was a candidate for Richmond Senior Queen. Morna was married on horseback to her first husband, John Evans, and enjoyed riding and shows. She also loved gardening, cards, Mahjong, and being with friends. Morna also enjoyed crafting, and participated in craft shows until June of 2017.
She is survived by her daughter, Candy S. Voit; grandson, Chad Brandenburg (wife Stacie); great-grandchildren, Norah and Sam; adopted great-granddaughter, Adrianna; step-grandsons, Ben and Jason Voit; and step-great-grandson, Chandler.
In addition to her parents, Morna was preceded in death by her first husband, John Evans; her second husband, Orville Charles; and son-in-law, Charles Voit Jr.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 16000 Cumberland Avenue, in Noblesville, with Pastor Stephen Walker officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the veteran's charity of your choice.
Morna's family has entrusted her care to Randall & Roberts Funeral Homes in Noblesville.
