Nancy Mickelson

Nancy Ann Mickelson, 75, of Noblesville, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. She was born on July 30, 1937 to Gerhardt "Jerry" and Helen (Kaczik) Backes in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Nancy worked as a Registered Nurse for 20 years, most notably as the public health nurse for Howard County Board of Health in Kokomo, Indiana.
She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Noblesville, including membership in the 55'ers Club, and Rosary Society. She was an avid fly fisherman, enjoyed gardening, and coached softball through the years. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, which included being a shareholder. She was an advocate in starting a program in Kokomo for children with learning disabilities. She was also an active participant and missionary member, as well as contributor to an outreach program in Kentucky for families of the Appalachian Mountains. She made many contributions to various charitable organizations. She loved to travel, but most of all, loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, John "Jack" Mickelson; daughter, Laura (Tom) Hinshaw; son, Tim Mickelson; daughter, Lisa (Ty) Wamsley; daughter, Linda (Mark) Florey; sister, Barbara (Ken) Shearer; twin brothers: Jim (Birdie) Backes, and Jerry (Judy) Backes; sister, Terri (David) Guzman; plus eight grandchildren: Ashlyn, Blake & Hanna Hinshaw; Max & Mia Wamsley; and Madelyn, Lauryn & Charlie Florey.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 9900 East 191st Street, in Noblesville, followed by a reception. Father Tom Metzger will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, August 27, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville, with a Rosary beginning at 7:30 PM. Burial will be at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Indianapolis.
