Norman D. Simmons

Norman D. Simmons, 85, of Noblesville, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. He was born on September 22, 1930 to Lawrence Ray and Vera (Montgomery) Simmons in Agenda, Kansas.
Norman had been a laser steel detail cutter for J & L Steel, where he retired in 1981, and then for Westfield Steel for over 38 years. He proudly served his country with the U. S. Army Rangers and was a veteran of the Korean War, where he received three Bronze Stars. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.
He is survived by his children, Cindy Boane, Deborah Ayer and Barry (Betty) Simmons; siblings, Diana (Cliff) Roberts, Lawrence Simmons and Danny (Faye) Simmons; 11 grandchildren, Heather Simmons, Michelle Smith, Erik Simmons, Kya Ayer, T.J. Ayer, Sasha Simmons, Tony Hanni, Allen Simmons, Joshua Simmons, Tiduz Simmons and Altair Simmons; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Carey Simmons (twin to Barry); three sisters, Harriet Huber, Maurine Gunn and Dewey Crist; and two brothers, Deurweent Simmons and Bobby Simmons.
Services with military rites will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street in Noblesville, with visitation beginning at 11:00 am prior to the service. Pastor Mark Lowe will officiate.
