Oddos Denton Morris

Pastor Oddos D. Morris, 84, of Yorktown, went home to be with the Lord on the evening of Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 6, 1932 to Leamon and China (Stanley) Morris in Oneida, Tennessee.
Oddos was a 1950 graduate of Oneida High School, and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict. On June 14, 1961, he received the call to the ministry, and in September of 1961 was ordained at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. He earned a Doctor of Divinity degree from Central Indiana Independent Baptist Bible College on March 14, 2011. Brother Oddos served as pastor of Pine Hill Baptist Church of Oneida, TN; Anadell Baptist Church of Wartburg, TN; Liberty Baptist Church of Ypsilanti, MI; and for 32 years, was pastor of Poplar Run Baptist Church of Farmland, IN. During his 55+ years as pastor, he also served as an Evangelist and had a nursing home ministry, conducting services in several area facilities. His life-long passion was preaching. Brother Morris was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed singing Gospel music, and taught shaped-note singing in Tennessee and Indiana. Oddos dearly loved his family, and enjoyed watching his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. He was a hero to his grandchildren.
Oddos is survived by his wife, Adalene C. Morris; children, Pastor Randal (Tonya) Morris, Patricia (Ray) Coffey, and Nathan (Edi) Morris; 13 grandchildren, Chris (Lacey) Morris, Avery (Erica) Morris, Racheal (Ryan) Barnes, Stephen (Christy) Morris, Lucas (Ashley) Morris, Andrea Hamilton, Jason (Heather) Coffey, Amber (Chris) Chandler, Ariel (Jon) Thornburg, Rosanna (Jimmy) Canfield, Micah (Danielle) Morris, Titus (Olivia) Morris, and Chloe Morris; 13 great-grandchildren, Gabe, Gideon, Silas & Lily Barnes, Samuel, Seth & Simon Morris, Jayden Morris, Timothy Hamilton, Caleb & Justin Thornburg, Kaitlynn Coffey, Jaycee & J-Jim Canfield, Aiden & Sasha Morris, and Hattie & Liam Moses Morris; sister, Rretta Chambers; as well as several nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gilbert & Dorman Morris; grandson, Jeremy Coffey; and great-grandchildren, Brooklynn Morris and Grace Barnes.
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Poplar Run Baptist Church, 2964 S 900 W, in Farmland. Services will be held at 7:00 pm, with visitation one hour prior, on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Fellowship Baptist Church, 2204 S. Macedonia Ave in Muncie, with Pastor Randal Morris and Pastor Jeremiah Ferguson officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Losantville.
