Patricia Louise (Williams) Avery, 75, Indianapolis, passed away Friday, June 12, 2009 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. She was born January 8, 1934 in Noblesville to Edgar V. and Dovie B. (Woods) Williams.
Patricia graduated from Noblesville High School in 1952 and immediately started working as a computer programmer at the Army Finance Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, from which she retired after 35 years of service. She also worked part-time for many years at Target, where she enjoyed socializing with everyone that she met.
She was a member of Bethel A.M.E Church and also New Beginnings Fellowship Church. She enjoyed crocheting afghans for family and friends, and working crossword puzzles and jumbles. Her biggest joy was her family. At any given time, you could find her hanging out with her 'girls', watching and playing with her grandson, Micah, or supporting her granddaughter, Lauren, in every aspect of her life.
Patricia had a strong faith in God, and believed in the presence of angels, which could be seen in her vast collection of angels.
She is survived by two daughters, Tracy L. Avery & Monica L. (Avery) Thomas, both of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Lauren A. Avery & Micah A. Thomas, both of Indianapolis; two sisters, Roberta R. Rickman of Westfield & Betty J. Peters of Kokomo; and a whole host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Orville Williams & Edgar Williams, Jr.
Services will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home in Noblesville, with Rev. Mallory Tarrance officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 - 1:00PM at the funeral home, prior to the service. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Noblesville.
She will be greatly missed by her two adoring daughters, grandchildren, and sisters. Once an earth-bound angel, Patricia has now been given her wings.
