Patricia Hummel Logan, 85, of Boiling Springs, PA, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Hamilton Trace Family-First Senior Living Center in Fishers, IN.
Pat was born May 5, 1932, in Perry County, PA. to the late Lester Vernon Hummel and Kathryn Elizabeth Knaub Hummel. Pat was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John D. Logan and a sister, Jeanette Elaine Hummel.
On May 23, 1954, Pat married, and she soon started a life that involved traveling the world as the wife of a U.S. Army chaplain living in Germany, the Panama Canal Zone and South Korea, as well as many other locations in the states. After retiring to Boiling Springs in 1985, she continued her love of travel with her husband visiting England, Ireland, Mexico, Costa Rica and Alaska, as well as numerous National Parks throughout the country. In her last years, Pat told her family numerous times what a wonderful life she had and how she could not have imagined traveling the world while growing up in rural Perry County.
Pat was a life-long member of St John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boiling Springs. She served the congregation in many capacities throughout the years including Sunday School teacher, Financial Secretary, Bible Study leader, and active member of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Pat is survived by son, M. Douglas Logan (and his wife, Karen) of Tallahassee, FL; daughter, Kathryn (and her husband, Rick) Tardy of Noblesville, IN; five grandchildren, Abby, Sean & Megan Logan, and Neal & Logan Tardy; sisters, Lois Faye Hummel and Ruth Ann Hummel; and brother, Lester Frederick Hummel.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boiling Springs. Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
