Paul 'Dick' Stewart Hammond, 89, of Arcadia, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis. He was born on March 15, 1925 to James and Della (Wisdom) Hammond in Florence, Alabama.
Dick retired from Firestone Industrial Products in 1985, and had also farmed while working for Firestone. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army and was a Purple Heart recipient and a WWII veteran. He was a member of Green Valley Church of Christ in Noblesville; and a former member of the Noblesville American Legion and V.F.W. He belonged to the Model A Restoration Club; and enjoyed fishing, gardening, farming, cruises, and traveling. He loved family gatherings dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Hammond; son, Steve (Patsy) Hammond; daughters, Carol (Gene) Schnyder and Julia (Jim) Miller; son-in-law, Tim Crites; two sisters; one brother; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Crites; and seven brothers & sisters.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, July 7, 2014, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, in Noblesville, with Minister Emeritus Jim Dillinger officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
