Phyllis Ann Abel

Phyllis Ann Abel, 86, of Sarasota, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Harbour Manor Care Center in Noblesville. She was born on October 9, 1928 to Clarence and Olive (Mullendore) Taylor in Franklin, Indiana
Phyllis graduated from Franklin High School, received a Bachelor's degree from Franklin College, and a Master's degree from Butler University. Phyllis and Russell were married on June 4, 1950, and recently celebrated their 65th anniversary. Her sons walked through the early years of their lives under her excellent guidance. She loved her family and was always interested in their welfare. For 20 years, Phyllis taught in an IPS elementary school. She also taught Sunday school classes in her church, and served as Superintendent of the Primary Department. Phyllis was a member of Noblesville First United Methodist Church, and a loyal participant in the Sarasota First Church United Methodist. She also held a 50-year membership in Corinthian Chapter No. 456, Order of the Eastern Star. Phyllis enjoyed cooking, especially Christmas cookies. She prepared over 600 cookies each Christmas for her neighbors and friends, and also made Christmas ornaments for family and friends.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Russell Abel; sons, David (Marcella) Abel, Phillip (Carolyn) Abel; grandchildren, Katie and Ben; step-granddaughter, Annie; and step-great-grandsons, Holden and Austin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Don and Mark.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 25, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, Noblesville. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at Noblesville First United Methodist Church, 2051 Monument Street, in Noblesville, with visitation 1 hour prior. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.
Memorial contributions may be made to Noblesville First United Methodist Church, 2051 Monument Street, Noblesville, IN 46060; or First Church United Methodist, 104 South Pineapple Avenue, Sarasota, FL 34236.
