Rannan Moss Smith

Rannan Moss Smith, 53, slipped the bonds of earth and passed to the peace and loving care of his Creator on December 9, 2018.  He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and came with his parents at age two to live in Indianapolis.
He graduated from Park Tudor School, leaving a stellar track record behind, and moved on to Wabash College, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Economics. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity at Wabash.

The love and care of family and friends filled his life with purpose, and the enjoyment of music and its performance, as well as gardening were avocations that demanded equal time. Many lifetime friendships were made and kept through his love of music and his music collection was a source of pride. He was an accomplished gardener, and was happiest when wielding spade or pruning shears. No seed or cutting could resist his sure coaxing and no hedge, his firm, even touch.
He is survived by his adored wife, Julie (McNamara), and their two sons, Jake and Conor, both now completing their college careers in Indiana; by his parents, Larry and Louise Smith, and by his devoted brother, Sean Moss Smith, (Jama) of Indianapolis and by niece, Caroline Smith and nephew, Cameron Smith; also by aunt, Sonia Smith Ross, and cousins, Laith and Vanessa Ross, all of Lexington, KY; and by cousin, Frances Raynor of Pinehurst, NC.
The Service of Christian Burial will be held at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Allisonville Road, Fishers, in the Chapel, at 1:30 pm, on Saturday, December 15.  Interment will follow.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Franciscan Hospice House, Indianapolis, for the gentle care provided there.
