Raymond Eugene Seaman, a beloved member of the Carmel, Indiana community, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the age of 79. Born on December 5, 1943, in Newark, Ohio, Ray was the cherished son of Raymond and Thelma Seaman.
Ray led a remarkable life, leaving an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing him. Beyond his professional life, Ray was a man of deep faith, finding his spiritual home at Northside Baptist Church.
Among his many passions, Ray had an extraordinary talent for music. His love for singing was evident to all who heard him, and he generously shared his gift with others through various singing groups, including The Mariners, His Voice Through Us, Calvary Quartet, Noblemen, and Trinity Singers. He used his remarkable voice to serve the Lord, bringing solace and joy to those who heard him.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Janet Seaman; his son, Rodney (Angie) Seaman; daughter, Rhonda Hamaker; grandchildren, Alec (Monica) Hamaker and Alicia (Adam) Hamaker Brown; great-grandchild, Simon Hamaker; step-grandchildren, Katie Ebersole, and Chris Ebersole; brother, Ken (Sharon) Seaman; and sister-in-law, Sylvia Seaman. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Martin, and brother, Ronald Seaman.
Beyond his family and professional life, Ray's generosity extended to those around him. He made it a point to visit every person in his assisted living residence, traveling via his electric scooter with oxygen tanks in tow, spreading warmth and kindness to all. He made it a point to learn everyone’s name and something about them. His caring nature was a testament to his character.
Ray was not only a talented musician but also a dedicated leader in the world of gospel music. He served as the president of the Indiana Gospel Music Association, leaving a lasting legacy within the organization and fostering the growth of gospel music in his community.
