René Anthony Gonzalez
René Anthony Gonzalez, 70, of Noblesville, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017. Rene was born June 13, 1946 to Jesus and Maria (Acuña) Gonzalez in Gary, Indiana.
René graduated from Holy Angels grade school and Horace Mann High School. René worked at Inland Steel in East Chicago, Indiana as a carpenter for 30 years. René took pride in his sons, Michael, Briggs, and Tyler Gonzalez and was blessed with four beautiful grandchildren, Evan, Luke, Isabel, and Claire Gonzalez. Time spent with "Peepaw" was special time and many times quite the adventure. René greatly enjoyed attending many of his sons and grandchildren's sporting events and was their biggest fan in the stands.
As a point of pride, René was always willing to help those in need and never met a stranger. René loved to be unpredictable and did a great job of keeping everyone on their toes. He was patriotic man and loved to fashion his American flag shirt whenever possible. He also enjoyed gardening and had an avid love of cars, especially vintage cars.
René had an unquenchable love and enthusiasm for his family and their many traditions and celebrations. René was a man of great faith who loved the Lord. His presence at the head of the table leading all in prayer from the heart will be dearly missed.
René is survived by his loving wife, Tracei Gonzalez; three sons, Michael (Julia) Gonzalez, Briggs Gonzalez and Tyler Gonzalez; four beautiful grandchildren, Evan, Luke, Isabel and Claire Gonzalez; brother, Ben Gonzales; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom were so dear to him.
In addition to his parents, Jesus and Maria, he was preceded in death by his sister, Irma Manzo-Mroz; and brother, Jesse Gonzalez.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses and caregivers who provided such loving care to René over the years.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 15176 Blessed Mother Blvd. in Fishers, with Rev. Brian Dudzinski officiating.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, in Noblesville, with a special tribute time beginning at 7:30 pm. René's family encourages anyone to share stories and experiences during this tribute time. In honor of René's love of sports, feel free to come dressed in your spirit wear.
