Rex Kreger

Rex David Kreger, 51, went to Heaven on Monday, August 13, 2012. Rex was jogging at Strawtown Koteewi Park when he had a sudden heart attack that took his life. He lived in Noblesville, Indiana with the love of his life, his wife Laura. He was the beloved father of Chase and Marybeth. Rex was born on September 27, 1960 in Pierceton, Indiana to Jerry and Joyce Kreger. He grew up in Pierceton with his two siblings, Jerry and Susan. He met and fell in love with Laura before his freshman year in high school, and they were blessed with a beautiful marriage of 28 years. Rex was a devoted husband, father, and follower of Christ.
Growing up in Pierceton, Rex attended Whitko High School, where he was a star athlete in football, basketball, baseball, and track. Rex attended Pierceton Presbyterian Church, where he got the perfect attendance award every year. He graduated from Whitko in 1979, and he earned an athletic scholarship to play football and baseball at Valparaiso University. He played varsity football and baseball all four years at Valpo, and he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1983. After dating for nine years, Rex and Laura were married on June 23, 1984.
Rex and Laura lived and raised their children in Noblesville, Indiana, where they were actively involved in their children's lives. Chase was born in April 1987, and Marybeth was born in August 1988. Chase and Marybeth both competed at a high level in sports and earned athletic scholarships to play soccer in college. Chase played at the University of Louisville, and Marybeth played at Duke University. Rex and Laura loved attending their games and being their number one fans. Rex led Laura, Chase, and Marybeth to Jesus Christ and got them actively involved in church. He was a founding member of Open Door Free Methodist Church and was later an active member of Grace Community Church. He served God in multiple capacities by leading Bible studies, youth group, and community service projects.
Rex started his career at Consolidated Freightways and was an operations manager there for twenty years. Rex was employed by Fluid Waste Services as an operations manager. He was a significant leader of this company, where he worked very hard for ten years. Rex was loved by all at Fluid Waste and even led many of his co-workers to Christ. He led a Bible Study with the men every Friday morning at 5:30 am before the work day began.
Rex loved spending quality time with God, his wife, kids, family, and friends. He was an accomplished athlete who loved to watch, coach, and play sports. One of his favorite things to do was play sports with his kids and watch them play. He prioritized his relationship with Jesus above all else and was devoted to getting up every morning to spend time reading his Bible and praying. Rex loved worshipping God with his family. He enjoyed playing golf and watching sports. He was a Duke basketball fanatic and dreamed of being a 'Cameron Crazie'. He spent a lifetime loving God and others, and he always made people laugh as a legendary storyteller. Rex loved playing with his dog, Dukie; laughing; working out; reading; and eating Laura's cooking.
Rex is survived by Laura "Lolly" Duggins Kreger, Chase and Suzanne Kreger, and Marybeth and Anthony Jorge; his parents, Jerry A. and Joyce Kreger; his brother, Jerry F. Kreger; and his sister, Susan Kreger Peck.
The memorial service will be on Friday, August 17, at 3 pm at Open Door Free Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life reception for Rex, will begin at approximately 4:45 pm at the church, following the memorial service.
