Richard Lee Maris, 80, of Noblesville, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2011 at Prairie Lakes Health Campus in Noblesville. He was born on June 18, 1931 to Felix and Ruth (Hopkins) Maris in Danville, Illinois. On July 22, 1951, Richard married Donna "Joan" Troxel.
For 33 years, Richard worked in concrete sales for RiteMix/Quikrete, retiring in 1997. He was a 1950 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School, and served his country proudly in the Army during the Korean War. Richard was a member of the American Legion, and a member of the Korean War Veterans.
Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan Maris; daughters, Patricia (Skip) Lowe, Nancy Maris, Vickie Schrader, Karen Maris, and LeeAnn (Alan) Bird; grandchildren, Jessica, Kyle & Jordan Schrader, Thomas Harber, Michael Maris, and Alex, Haley, Sarah & Samantha Bird; and his beloved dog, Barney.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 15, 2011, at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, Fishers, with Rev. Stanley R. Sutton officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the funeral home. Entombment with full military rites will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
