Richard "Dick" Melfi, 67, of Noblesville, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2011 at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville. He was born on December 20, 1943 to Carmen and Ruth (Nardone) Melfi in Columbus, OH.
Dick graduated from Grandview Heights High School in Columbus. He received his undergraduate degree from Ohio State University, and his law degree from Capital University School of Law in Columbus. Dick began his professional career as a negotiator and administrator with the Ohio Department of Transportation in 1967. Following positions include Chief Real Estate Counsel for the City of Cincinnati and Deputy Attorney General for the State of Indiana, where he retired in 2010. He was a member of Noblesville First United Methodist Church, Alpha Phi Delta, and IRWA. Dick was an avid Ohio State Buckeye football fan, loved antiques, and was a history buff.
He is survived his by wife, Pam Jankowski Melfi of Noblesville, IN; son, Michael Melfi of Bloomington, IN; step-daughters, Jill (Greg) Golightly, Amy (Tony) Hilton, and Lyndsay (Michael) Sheridan of Noblesville, IN; step-son, David (Karen) Jankowski of Canton, OH; brothers, Jerry (Pam) Melfi and Larry (Mary) Melfi of Saint Augustine, FL; brother, Jim (Molly) Melfi of Palatka, FL; grandchildren, Holly & Lauren Golightly, Will, Luke, Adam & Ryan Hilton, Gabe & Fisher Sheridan, and Reagan, Brett & Rachel Jankowski.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his first wife, Jan Melfi; step-son, Thomas Schaefer; and father-in-law, Donald Hackbarth.
Services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, October 6, 2011, at Noblesville First United Methodist Church, 2051 Monument Street, Noblesville, with Rev. Jack Wolfe officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00pm at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, Noblesville, and one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
