Richard 'Rick' Lewis Schiess, 49, Westfield, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born March 26, 1959 in Louisville, Kentucky to George Floyd Theodore Schiess and Martha Foster.
Rick had been General Manager for Porter Engineered Systems, Inc. in Westfield for 10 years. He was a 1977 graduate of Lewisburg High School (KY) and a member of White River Christian Church, in Noblesville.
He had been a resident of this area for 10 years. He was a past-member of the Westfield Chamber of Commerce; was an avid bicyclist and loved music. He was instrumental in bringing karaoke music to Janus Development Center in Noblesville. He was proud to be an Army dad, a Purdue dad, and a DCI dad.
Prior to coming to Indiana, he had been a team leader in the finishing department at Logan Aluminum for 15 years. He had also been a Russellville (KY) City police officer for six years.
He is survived by his mother, Martha Foster of Russellville, KY; wife, Nancy Schiess of Westfield, IN; daughter, Laura Ellen Schiess of Washington, DC; son, Patrick Lewis Schiess of West Lafayette, IN; sisters, Cathy (& Rick) Wilson of Christiana, TN, Donna (& Eldon) Renaud of Bowling Green, KY, and;Judith (& Karsten) Gill of Henderson, KY, sister-in-law, Teresa (Steve) Cauley of Franklin, KY; father-in-law, Rev. Ray (& Beverly) Mullen of Lewisburg, KY; and several nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be held at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary on Friday, October 17, 2008 from 10:00AM to 4:00PM. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2008 after 4:00PM at Young Funeral Home in Russellville, KY, and then again on Sunday, October 19, from 8:00AM to 1:00PM at Young Funeral Home. There will also be a short visitation beginning at 2:00PM until funeral service time of 3:00PM at Southern Heights Baptist Church, in Russellville, KY. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Russellville, KY.
