Robert S. Dyer, 91, of Sheridan, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at home. He was born on May 17, 1924 to Stanley J. and Helen (Mabbs) Dyer in Lansing, Michigan.
Robert had worked for the Indiana Department of Corrections as a prison guard for 10 years, and had been a security guard at the Indianapolis Museum of Art & Winona Hospital. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army and was a WWII veteran. After returning from the service he owned the Bonair Apartments at 16th & Meridian, and a Serv-I-Soft franchise.
He was a very intellectual man and a good provider; and had an interest and a passion for astrophysics, writing articles and dissertations for university professors.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Dyer; children, Kim Dyer, Mark (Deborah) Dyer; step-daughter, Marni; two grandchildren; two step-grandsons; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Marjorie Enmeier; and a sister.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 30, 2015, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, in Noblesville, with visitation beginning at 12:00 noon. Entombment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.
