Robert E. Harrison passed from this life April 24, 2009, at the age of 89. Born December 26, 1919 to Robert and Mary Harrison of Indianapolis, he was a life long resident of Indianapolis and later Fishers, Indiana, where he lived for the past 31 years.
Robert was a 1937 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School, Indianapolis, and began his working career with Allison Engineering shortly thereafter. In 1979 Robert retired from a 40 year career with the Indiana Bell Telephone Company and remained active for many years with the Bell Pioneers.
An active member of the Castleton Christian Church, Robert faithfully lived the Christian values he held so dear. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 57 years, Betty. Together they raised three sons, Gary, Robin, and Jim for whom he was the perfect role model for what a man, a husband, and a father should be. He delighted in his four grandchildren, Timothy, Brandon, Eleanor, and Amy, and the love he showed them was sincerely returned. Robert is also survived by his brother Edwin Harrison.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister Florence Barnes.
A celebration of life will take place at Randall and Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, Fishers, IN at 12:00PM on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 with Pastor David Johnson officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Robert will be laid to rest at the Washington Park Cemetery East in Indianapolis.
