Robert L. "Bob" Loomis

Robert L. (Bob) Loomis - February 28, 1945 (LaPorte, IN) - February 13, 2025 (Fishers, IN) A life well-lived and filled with love.

Bob went to be with Jesus on February 13, surrounded by the love of his family. A totally devoted family man, Bob’s loved ones feel an immense sense of loss, but also sheer joy that he’s in the presence of the Lord and gratitude for the example he set every day of how to live a life of positivity and giving.

Bob graduated from Indiana University where he served as an alumni board member for the IU Kelley School of Business. His strong work ethic led to a long, fruitful career working as an accountant and more for the Dow Chemical Company.

Judy was the love of Bob’s life. As you know, the two of them acted as one. Beginning as high school sweethearts, they spent 58 married years creating a beautiful life together. They loved being parents to Jenny and Robb in addition to 26 newborn foster babies. Together, they lovingly nurtured and welcomed numerous young people into their lives. They loved to travel and explore new places around the world. Bob re-proposed to his bride on a mountain top in Switzerland exactly 30 years to the day of his first proposal.

Bob was the best dad that Jenny and Robb could hope for, always leading by example with love, devotion and selflessness. He attended all of their games, school events, and everything in between. He thoroughly enjoyed challenging them on the basketball court and golf course, often cracking jokes and imparting wisdom along the way. Bob’s words and actions as a dad modeled a legacy of love which shaped the lives of his own kids and many others.

Bob was easy-going and a gentle leader. He loved encouraging and spending time with his grandkids. He enjoyed being on the boards at his church as well as being a youth group leader for teens. He was an undefeated youth soccer coach, a mentor for young people, and an active parent in his kids’ education. He was such an avid golfer that he even created and hosted his own tournament for several years called the Duffers Invitational. He could be serious, but definitely showed his sense of humor and clever wit through his entertaining stories.

In addition to Bob’s devotion to his family and friends, he found joy in serving at Christ the Savior Lutheran Church, delivering flowers for McNamara’s in his retirement, playing golf, watching basketball, and especially raising puppies for Canine Companions.

Bob is survived by his bride of 58 years, Judy (Grandorf) Loomis; children, Jenny Loomis and Robb (Julie) Loomis; brothers, Bill (Jane) Loomis and Jim Loomis; sister, Norma (Andy) Hiatt; brother-in-law, Jim (Joyce) Grandorf; sister in law, Sherry Grandorf; grandchildren, Caroline (Micah) Olgine and Jackson (Jackie) Loomis; great-granddaughter, Melody; several special young people and friends they consider family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Edith Loomis, his in-laws Norman and Edna Grandorf, nephew Larry Grandorf, and brother-in-law Tom Grandorf.
