Robert E. Montgomery

Robert E. Montgomery, 90, of Sheridan, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015 at his home. He was born on June 5, 1925 to Walter and Josephine (Smith) Montgomery in New Castle, Indiana.
Robert proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army. He worked as a Claims Examiner for 40 years for the U.S. Department of Defense, and also worked at the Army Finance Center and the U.S. Postal Service in New Palestine. Robert was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was a life-long woodworker.
He is survived by his wife, Lenora H. Montgomery, who he married on September 6, 1957; son, Virgil L. Montgomery (Tabitha Schmidlin); daughter, Martha A. (Reid) Barker; grandson, Logan R. Barker; and Isabel Vary.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth E. Montgomery.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 3, 2015, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, in Noblesville. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 2, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crown View Cemetery in Sheridan.
