On May 1, 2011, cancer took the earthly body of Robert 'Bob' J. Murphy, 57, of Fishers, and his soul went to be with God and united with all the loved ones who went before him. Born April 8, 1954, he was the fourth of six children to Phillip and Pricilla (McGlynn) Murphy in Beverly, MA. His father precedes him in death.
When he was a toddler, the family moved to Highland, IN where he lived until moving to the Indianapolis area to begin his professional career. He proudly wore the badge of growing-up in 'the region' and loved his time spent in the Northwest corner of the state. Bob had been a CPA for over 30 years, most of which was running his own firm, the Murphy CPA. Group. He was a graduate of Bishop Noll High School, where he was a varsity wrestler; and Indiana University. He was proud of his Irish-Catholic heritage and was a member of St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church in Fishers. The Chicago Bears and Cubs were his favorite teams. Golf and collecting vinyl records were his primary hobbies; and he also enjoyed an occasional jaunt to a casino. Bob enjoyed life to the fullest, was extremely generous with his time and talents and never met a stranger.
He will be tremendously missed by his wife, Beth Murphy of Fishers; mother, Pricilla Murphy; brother, Bill (wife Lamar) Murphy; sister, Claire Murphy (husband Bill Cain); sister, Brenda Murphy (husband George Monteiro); brother, Rich (wife Joan) Murphy; sister, Pat Murphy-Savin (husband Dan Savin); his beloved dog, Penny; several nieces & nephews; and many friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, in Fishers. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 4, 2011 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
