Robert Norris Whirrett, age 93, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, surrounded by family at his home. Robert "Bob" was born on October 11, 1931 in Paulding, Ohio.
A devout Christian, he was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, and was a former charter member of Cornerstone Lutheran Church in Carmel, IN. Bob served in the US Navy from 1951-1954. After discharge from the USN, he started his retail career at Wolf & Dessauer (W&D) in Fort Wayne, IN. Bob continued his retail career as a buyer at Ayr-Way and Danner's in Indianapolis, IN, followed by several years as a salesman to retail businesses. After retirement, he spent 10 years working at Sears Hardware Store in Fishers, IN.
An avid sports fan, Bob enjoyed watching the Ohio State Buckeyes, Colts, Pacers, and the Boston Red Sox. His other hobbies included woodcarving, golf, yard work, gardening, and traveling with the love of his life, his wife, Melba.
Bob was a wonderful example of living for the Lord. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, including his family he loved so dearly, as well as countless friends. Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his dear wife of 64 years, Melba (Kuker) Whirrett; his parents, Wilbur & Edith Whirrett , Paulding, OH; his brother, Alan Whirrett, Paulding, OH; and his mother- & father-in-law, Fred & Evelyn Kuker, Ft. Wayne, IN.
Bob is survived by his 3 sons, Michael (Jolene) Whirrett, Auburn, IN, Bob (Paula K.) Whirrett, New Haven, IN, and Mark D. (Paula J.) Whirrett, Cicero, IN; 6 grandchildren, Andy (Kristen) Whirrett, Ft. Wayne, IN, Joey (Jamie) Whirrett, Ft. Wayne, IN, Chris (Jessica) Whirrett, Omaha, NE, Emily (Matt) Thompson, Cicero, IN, Kara (Cody) Siemek, Bellevue, NE, and Austin (Carly) Whirrett, Pendleton, IN; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, Noblesville, IN. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, February 10, 2025 at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 15605 Ditch Road, Westfield, IN. Burial will follow at Crownland Cemetery, 1776 Monument Street, Noblesville after the service.
