Robert Leroy Young Sr.

Robert Leroy Young Sr., 89, of Westfield, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. He was born on December 2, 1934 to Raymond and Bessie (Bish) Young in Indiana, Pennsylvania.

Robert worked for 33 years for Babcock & Wilcox Steel in Beaver Falls, PA. He married Carole Sutherin on December 27, 1954. Robert was a member of the Bible Holiness Church and served 4 years as a missionary in New Guinea. Through the years, he loved to hunt and enjoyed working on cars.

Robert is survived by his wife of 70 years, Carole J. Young; children, Robert Leroy (Sharen) Young Jr, Lois McLean, Dan P. (Janine) Young, Shirley (Charles) McLean, Rebecca (Adrian) Duttry, and Teresa (Timothy) Carpenter; 24 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant twins, Janet & Charles Young; daughter, Vicki (Jim) Webb; brothers, Raymond Young Jr., Richard Young, and Donald Young; and his sisters, Sandra Champion, Shirley Ann Young, and Mary Ellen Pumphrey.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Union Friends Church, 533 S. Union Street, in Westfield. An additional visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with services at 11:00 am, on Monday, July 8, 2024 at the church, with Pastor Mark Mowery officiating. Burial will be at Hamilton Memorial Park Cemetery in Westfield.
