Rodney Walton Dennis

Pastor Rodney Walton Dennis, 68, of Sheridan, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at his home. He was born on May 30, 1946 to Robert and Doris (Chamberlin) Dennis in Henry County, Indiana.
Rodney proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Indiana University, Earlham College, and Christian Theological Seminary. For 45 years, he was a pastor of Friends churches, including Hortonville Friends, Honey Creek - New Providence Friends in New Providence, IA, Dayspring Friends in Yorktown, Courtland Avenue Friends in Kokomo, Knightstown Friends, and Bethel Friends in Jonesboro, from where he retired. Pastor Rodney was a member of Westfield Friends Church, and taught previously at IvyTech in Richmond, Kokomo, and Marion. He was very creative, played the drums, was a dedicated family man, and spent his life serving the Lord.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy Kay Dennis; father, Robert W. Dennis; son, Cordy (Kristi) Dennis; daughter, Rosalie (Dale) Baker; brothers, Randall (Susan) Dennis, DeWayne (Anita) Dennis, and Russell A. (Sharon) Dennis; and four grandchildren, Chase, Lily, Caden, and Karli.
In addition to his mother, Pastor Rodney was preceded in death by his twin sister, Rosalie Dennis.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 1, 2015, at Westfield Friends Church, 324 S Union Street, in Westfield, with Pastors Steve Pedigo and Doug Shoemaker officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, April 30, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville. An additional visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Eagle Creek Cemetery in Westfield.
