Roger Thomas Moynahan

Roger Thomas Moynahan, 91, of Noblesville, IN and formerly of Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. He was born February 3, 1923 in Boston, Massachusetts to John Raymond and Eloise Freund Moynahan.
Roger was a graduate of Shortridge High School in Indianapolis; and earned his BS degree with honors in Engineering at Purdue University, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. He then graduated from Officer's Candidate School at Annapolis Naval Academy and entered the US Naval Armed Services. He served the United States as a Naval Officer aboard the USS Manlove in the South Pacific. In August, 1945, at the end of World War II he married Bettyjane Mitchell.
Roger joined his family business, JR Moynahan Properties, and built Apartments in Indianapolis prior to founding Anchor Galvanizing Co. He also owned Anderson Playground Equipment Company and Fargo Insulation Company. Roger graduated from Indiana University Law School in 1968.
Roger was a member of the Indianapolis Athletic Club, Hillcrest Country Club, the 500 Mile Race Committee and numerous other organizations in Indianapolis. He was active in the Indianapolis Service Club and a member of the Harbor Trees Golf Club of Noblesville. Roger loved IU Basketball, Colts Football, watching golf tournaments and enjoyed visiting Lake Wawasee during the summertime for 75 years. Roger was a member of Northwood Christian Church prior to becoming a founding member and Deacon for Crestview Christian Church in Indianapolis. Roger was currently a member of First Christian Church in Noblesville; an avid boater, bridge player, and golfer. He cherished being with his family and having fun, laughing and dancing with his abundance of friends through the years.
Roger is survived by his wife, Helen Moynahan; his brother, John Moynahan of Coconut Grove, Florida; his daughter, Marcia M. (Dr. Robert) Larmore of Fort Wayne and Phoenix; his son, Roger (Martha) Moynahan Jr. of South Bend, IN; his grown grandchildren, Cynthia Larmore, Wade Hardie, Jon Larmore, Michelle Larmore, Emily Moynahan and David Bemenderfer; great-grandchildren, Victoria, Skylar, Jonathan, Bridget and Brady. He is also survived by Helen's daughter, Lori Wright and her two children, Kendall and Kasey. All of Roger's grandchildren and great-grandchildren called him ‘Happy'; and Roger lived his nickname!
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street in Noblesville with calling one hour before. Entombment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.
