Roselyn Mack Lingenfelter, 84, Noblesville, passed from this life on September 8, 2010. Born on October 31, 1925 to Walter and Lola Mack, Rosie was blessed with a special nature from the beginning. She grew up in Indianapolis, graduated from Shortridge High School where she made many friends that she continued to stay in touch with many of them. She was part of that special generation who raised the baby boomers and witnessed many radical changes in life and the world. She worked hard to raise a family and remained at its center her entire life. She is remembered by her children as the one who held the reins on everything, as cook, driver, nurse, disciplinarian, confidante, enforcer and most important mother. She had a knack for adapting whether it was toads in the pockets of the wash or transporting a live duck in a laundry basket during weekend trips to Brown County. When faced with raising a young daughter late in life as a single mother she threw herself into doing everything she could to make the best of everything. Rosie was always ready to spend time with her sisters, sister-in-law and their families. Holidays were special times that involved rigorous scheduling to complete.
When grandchildren came she extended even more of herself to share in their lives as babysitter, transportation, caregiver and friend. She was always up to their challenges and spent many hours watching over them as they grew up. Great-grandchildren were next in line and all received a warm welcome into the ever extending family.
Throughout her life she spent considerable time supporting her families activates including PTA, Band Boosters, sports as well as careers. She enjoyed seeing everyone having a good time. She also was an accomplished seamstress, sewing clothes and knitting. She had recently completed two scarves for the Super Bowl volunteers surprising everyone with the skill and speed with which she completed them. Thanksgiving and Christmas were always special to her family because of her pumpkin pie and special secret ingredients that may never be known.
Rosie was preceded in death by her sisters, Dottie Gemmer and Joyce Emry; and sister-in-law Marianne (Lingenfelter) Webster.
She is survived by her sons, Jim, (Georgia Cravey), Jeff (Anita), Jerry; daughter, Cheryl Dillon (Michael); six grandchildren, Joshua (Pam Lyles), Matthew (Jennifer), Jeffrey Jr. (Kris), Amy Lustig (Kevin), Kelsey and Riley Dillon; four great-grandchildren, Jack Edwin Lingenfelter, Gabriel and Isabella Lingenfelter and Madeline Lustig; and several nephews and their families.
Calling will be at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1685 Westfield Road in Noblesville Saturday, September 11 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm with services at 3:00 pm. Burial will follow in Noblesville.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers that friends may make a contribution in her memory to their favorite charity.
