Rosemary A. Sorrell, 84, of Zionsville, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Maple Park Village in Westfield, IN. She was born July 27, 1940 to Desmond and Doris Woodworth in Singapore.
Rosemary, more commonly known as Rosie or Rose Bud, lived a life of love, happiness, and dancing. Rosemary spent many years working as a Receptionist for Dr. Robbins & Shull, before venturing into her entrepreneurial spirit as owner of a residential cleaning business. Rosemary grew up in England where she was a beautician and where she met her husband, John Sorrell, and moved to the United States in 1963.
Rosie’s love for her family was evident in everything she did, from hosting family holidays, attending sporting events and making any excuse to give you a big hug when you walked into the room. She had a passion for Ballroom Dancing where she earned national titles in the Pro/Am division she competed in, the beach and most importantly her cat, Simon. Her favorite treats, which were always at family gatherings and around the house, were baklava, grilled cheese sandwiches, sweetened condensed milk and Amaretto. Rosemary was eloquent, kind and caring towards all that she encountered and was the heartbeat of the Sorrell family. Her legacy of kindness and love will carry on for generations to come.
She is survived by her son, Sean Sorrell (Tammy Lee); daughter, Leslie Ramsey (Mario Doyon); grandchildren, Andrew (Brittany) Ramsey, Christian (Kate) Sorrell, Landon Sorrell, and Brock Frazer; great-grandchildren, Jack, Harrison and Vivian Ramsey; brother, Bill Reiner; and her sisters, Josephine Mynhardt and Jennifer Babetski.
In addition to her parents, Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Sorrell; sister-in-law, Mary (Sorrell) Tartar; and her brother, John Reiner.
Visitation will be from 10:00am to 12:00pm, with services at 12:00pm, on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, in Noblesville. Rosemary will be laid to rest with her husband, John, at Washington Park North Cemetery in Indianapolis.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E. 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240 (www.alz.org/indiana).
