Roy Edward "Ed" Bailey

Roy "Ed" Bailey, 79, of Fishers, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2016 at Allisonville Meadows in Fishers, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 5, 1937 to Roy and Sally (Bullion) Bailey in Oak Hill, West Virginia.
Ed proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. For 40 years, he worked for the Department of Veteran's Affairs, retiring as director of the Indiana regional office in 1994. Ed was a member of Senior Executive Service (SES), and was inducted as Sagamore of the Wabash. An avid golfer, he was a member of Plum Creek Golf Club. Most of all, Ed loved his family.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon (Duck) Bailey; sons, Scott (Lynne) Mewhinney and Brian (Jan) Mewhinney; grandchildren, Bailey & Jack Mewhinney, Morgan (Aaron) Schantz, Madison Mewhinney, and Preston & Foster Flamion; great-granddaughter, Eleanor Schantz; niece, Sally Jean (Sam) Huffman; nephew, Tunney Hunsaker; niece, Vicki Fox; great-niece, Ashleigh Huffman; and great-nephew, Sammy Huffman.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brother, Hisel Bailey; and sister, Phyllis Hunsaker.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, in Fishers. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 16, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
