Ruby Delores Campbell, 88, Indianapolis, peacefully passed away January 1, 2016. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, November 19, 1927 to Samuel T. and Harriett E. (Wiley) Nickelson. Ruby spent most of her life in St. Francois County Missouri.
She is the widow of Donald G. Campbell. They were married 40 years, residing in Desloge, Missouri, where they were members of the First Baptist Church. Ruby and Don established Campbell's Shoe & Sportswear Store in Flat River, Missouri in 1963. She managed the popular shop for over 25 years. Playing cards and board games with family and friends was one of her favorite activities. She loved animals, especially her dogs! Another pastime was sitting on her porch reading, crocheting, drawing and bird watching. She especially enjoyed watching the many deer that often visited the backyard and woods of her Indianapolis home. Ruby spent a great deal of her life taking care of family members; she had a giving heart. She touched the lives of those she knew with her bright smile and great sense of humor.
Ruby is survived by her daughter, Kathleen House (Larry); son, Samuel Asher; sister, Barbara "Bobbi" Morrison (Chuck); brothers, James "Nick" Nickelson (Lela) and Jim "Tots" Nickelson (Lenore); grandchildren, Todd, Becky and Tommy; great-grandchildren, Britany, Todd, and Christopher; great-great grandson, Ryder; along with many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 4:00-8:00PM at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, Fishers, Indiana 46038.
Additional visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Missouri, Saturday, January 9, 2016, from 9:00 AM to service time at 11:00 AM. Pastor Bradford Laubinger will be officiating. Entombment will follow immediately at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre.
