Ruth Frances Maines, 91, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. She was born in Queens, New York on July 24, 1932 to the late Robert and Florence (Dahl) Lesher.
Ruth was a graduate of Richmond Hill High School in Queens and worked as an administrative assistant in Manhattan after graduation. She moved to Noblesville upon her 1952 marriage to Donald G. Maines, to whom she was married for nearly 50 years prior to his death in 2002. Ruth was employed at the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for over 30 years.
Ruth is survived by three children, Laureen Maines of Bloomington, Dean Maines (Nancy O’Connor) of Edina, MN, and Janice (David) Johnson of Westfield. She also is survived by her sister, Carole Lesher of Nashville, TN and five grandchildren who she adored – Alex (Phoebe) Johnson, Audrey Johnson, Colm (Brigid) Maines, Ruth Maines (Sean Pingel), and Deaglan Maines, as well as one great-grandchild, Helen Maines. In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was predeceased by her daughter, Denise Maines, and sister, Doris Kiedaisch.
The family wants to thank the administrative staff, nurses, and caregivers at Copper Trace in Westfield for their loving care of Ruth during her final days and kindness to her family. Their dedication and compassion were truly exemplary and deeply appreciated.
A visitation will be held at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville on Sunday, March 3 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. The funeral will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 4 at 10:30 a.m., with burial following at Crown View Cemetery, Sheridan.
