Sandra Sims Smith, 70, loving wife of Robert A. Smith, passed away July 3, 2015 in Carmel, Indiana. She was born on September, 8, 1944 in Spencer, Indiana, to Forest & Helen (Franklin) Sims.
Sandy was born and raised in Spencer where she graduated Spencer High School in 1962. She attended Indiana Business School, and spent 25 years as a legal assistant to leading attorneys in Spencer, Bloomington, and Indianapolis. Sandy loved flowers and cooking. She was a master at outdoor flower bed designs and planting. Her flower pots would have won many contests, and her front yard in Bridgewater won the City of Westfield Best Large Front Lawn. She was a remarkable interior designer and an excellent chef. She and Bob often debated whether to eat out or at home; her dishes were usually better. Sandy volunteered at IU Health North for many years and played tennis at Carmel Racquet Club. Most importantly, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her loving husband, Robert, she is survived by her daughters, Mitzi (Ed) Jones, Tracy Small, and Patti Bayless; step-sons, Rob (Cheryl) McCullumsmith and Chris (Betsy) Smith; brother, Jack Sims; 6 grandchildren; and 7 step-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Sandy is preceded in death by her sister, Donna Shields.
