Siu C. Mak, 77, died after a valiant fight against lung cancer, A Chinese-American Patriarch to a business family passing from China to Ontario, Canada to Central Indiana will be laid to rest on May 18, 2011 in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Fishers, IN.
Mr. Mak was a long time restaurant owner and farm owner. He owned and operated Golden City Restaurant in Martinsville, IN and a 60 acre corn farm in Middletown IN. He was most dedicated to the youngest son and daughter and their families in his last 10 years of retirement from 1998 until his death. He supported his grandchildren with tremendous educational trips to Hong Kong, China, Canada, Philadelphia and New York. He left a legacy of adventure, memories, pictures, laughter and fun, and purposeful support for his surviving wife. His wife requires the health care of his youngest daughter and son's families.
He was a man who demanded respect and that his family remain united with China, Hong Kong, Ontario, Canada, to Middletown, IN to his final resting place and home in Fishers, IN. His values for family were witnessed & greatly respected by the medical personnel of Community North Hospital during the unanticipated time of death.
He is survived by wife, Siu F Mak, son, Bing F (Sui Hong Mak) Mak, son, Wai H. Mak, daughter, Yan Xia Mai (Terry Dawson) Mak, daughter, Yim Ling Mak, sister, Wai L (Wai Yim Ip) Mak, grandsons, Kin Ming Mak, Kweisi Mak Dawson, and Freedom Mak Dawson, granddaughters, Joanne Mak and Sau Yee Mak, nephew, Pui Hing (Cheung Ng) Ip and Pui Bong (Sun Mei Liu) Ip, great niece, Cecilia (Douglas) Legear, great nephews, Tsz Hang (Wen Lam) Ip and Ho Kuan Ip, great great nephew Lucas Legear.
Mr. Mak had a "Family of Loyalty" of those who loved and cared: Ginger & John McCabe, Craig & Barb Mark, Randy B. & Robin Mark, Yua Ling Mai, Claire Mark Gantz (deceased), Yue Jyn Chun, Shak Lui, Susan Mak, Bei Juiu House, Bei Bei Shuai, Caye Mark Yantcy, Chik & Julie Kim & family, Eva Chan, Kenny & Wanda Chan, Bing Fung Mark, Bing Yin Mark, Bing Yan Mark, Yim Hing Chan, Yim Fung Mark, and Yim Ping Mark.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cheung Choi Mak, mother, Fung Hoi (Yu) Mak and a brother in law Wai Yim Ip.
A farewell gathering will be held at Hamilton Memorial Park Tuesday May 17, 2011 from 6:00 - 10:00 PM. Funeral service will be held at Randall and Roberts Fishers Mortuary from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm Wednesday. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with graveside service from 1:00 -2:00 PM.
