Stephen Roy Nezovich

Stephen Roy Nezovich, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. He was born on January 10, 1935 to Steve and Love (Pronze) Nezovich in Gary, Indiana.

Stephen graduated from Purdue University in 1957 and held several engineering positions for the next 4 years, including working for a prime contractor on the construction of Mid-West Steel. In February of 1963, Stephen relocated to Indianapolis to accept a position with the Indiana Department of Transportation. He retired after 40 years of designing interstate systems as a highway design engineer. 

Stephen married Shirley Liston in Plainfield, Indiana on November 9, 1968. They were married until her passing in January of 2000. Stephen and Shirley enjoyed attending sporting events such as Purdue Football, Butler Basketball, and the Indianapolis Colts Football. They also enjoyed the ISO pops concerts and the IRT. Traveling was another interest they shared to both domestic and international sites. Stephen was a member of First Baptist Church of Indianapolis, the Scientech Club, and the Indianapolis Hiking Club. He also enjoyed golf.

Stephen is survived by his friends, Jim Arend and Robert Rhoades; sister, Leona Shakula; and his nieces & nephews, Mickey Shendrick, Janell Duncan, Christine Shakula, Peter Shakula, and John Haney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Nezovich.

Stephen will be laid to rest next to Shirley at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.
