Robert 'Steve' McEowen, 60, Westfield, passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer, Wednesday, September 16, 2009. He was born April 25, 1949 in Indianapolis to Robert Eugene and Dorothy (Gagliardi) McEowen.
He was surrounded by the comfort of his family and friends. family is what drove Steve to fight so strongly. He fought the cancer with such great pain and misery. Never did he complain. Steve's stoicism is just a small example of the strength, courage, and wisdom he held within during his incredible fight to be with his family. He will be greatly missed and our memories of him will go on forever.
Steve worked in construction with specialized decorative concrete. He took great pride in his family and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in sporting events.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Wendy McEowen; mother, Dorothy McEowen; daughters, Ashley (Ryan) Dirks and Hilary McEowen; sons, Steven McEowen and Travis McEowen; three grandsons, Gavin, Preston and Harrison Dirks; brother, Dan (Mary Ann) McEowen; sister, Patricia McEowen; five sisters-in-law, Lisa (& former brother-in-law, Ed) Rutherford, Lori Woo, Cyndee (Mike) O'Driscoll, Tammie Massie, & Jodi Collins; mother-in-law, Rita Slade; and several nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Larry E. Slade and father Robert Eugene McEowen.
Services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, September 20, 2009 at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary. Friends may call Saturday, September 19, from 1:00PM - 5:00PM at the funeral home.
