Steven S. Bailey, 63 of Noblesville, passed away on Thursday October 17, 2024, at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. He was born July 11, 1961, to the late William “Bill” Bailey and Sylvia (Cobb) Bailey in Bedford Indiana.
Steve served his country in the United States Air Force, and while stationed at RAF Lakenheath in England, he met his wife Caroline, they were married at Bury St. Edmunds on May 31, 1986. After first moving to the Boston area, with Steve’s work they moved across country 9 times before settling in Noblesville. After many years in the lawncare business, Steve started and ran Oasis Lawn Service with his son Tanner. He believed having your own business gave a freedom not found by working for “the man” and wanted to pass that on to his son.
Steve had four passions in life: his family, his sports teams, New England Patriots, Red Sox, Notre Dame Football and Philadelphia Flyers, Diet Coke and music. His passion for music; Queen, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, and others too numerous to mention he passed on to his children who often sat and listened with him while growing up. His passion for Diet Coke is shared with his daughter Leah. He had a fondness for poetry which he would compose himself and in later life wrote an autobiography of his younger life fittingly titled “Booze, Baptists, and Bedlam”.
Christmas was a big deal to him, the bigger the better, he loved to surprise his family with thoughtful and sometimes extravagant gifts, wanting only to see the look of joy on his family’s faces. He was Grandpa Santa to his granddaughter Prue whose face would light up whenever she saw him.
He is survived by his wife, Caroline, daughter, Leah Bailey (Corey) Brown; son, Tanner (Olivia) Bailey; grandchildren, Prue and Theo; and siblings, Elizabeth, John and Michelle.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street in Noblesville, with Wendy Goodard-Smith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Gary Sinise Foundation (https://www.garysinisefoundation.org).
