Thomas A. Pence, 75, of Noblesville, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at his home. He was born on June 3, 1938 to Orville and Phyllis (Archer) Pence in Sidney, Ohio.
Thomas worked as a Senior Nuclear Medicine Technologist at Riverview Hospital for 36 years before retiring in 1996. Over the years, He served as the Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis from 1997 until 2004, where he was then appointed the position of Historiographer Emeritus. Thomas took part in many organizations such as, Belfry Productions, where he specialized in Set design and Construction, and took part in special effects; he together with his wife, Sharon, was a co-President for the Do-Si-Squares, a local Square Dance Club; he attended the annual square dance convention that was held in Indianapolis in 1999; and was a member of the Board of Directors of the National Episcopal Historians and Archivists, where he served one year. In addition to organizing, and serving as a troop coordinator for Saint Michael's Boy Scout Troop Post 183, he was also very active in Explorers Post and many other posts.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Sharon S. Pence; daughters, Becky (Derek) Perry, Mary Buzan, Penny (Leon) Biddle; son, John (Christina) Pence; 14 grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren; and his loving dog, Holly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Bowen.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 444 South Harbour Drive, in Noblesville, with Rev. Dr. Lee Schaefer officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 17, 2013 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, Noblesville. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
