It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected death of Senior Chief Petty Officer Timmy Ray Montgomery, U.S. Navy (Retired), on February 6, 2025. He was 63 years old at the time of his death, and leaves behind a legacy of honor, service, and dedication.
Born on April 4, 1961 in Noblesville, Indiana, Tim grew up with a strong sense of patriotism and a deep commitment to serving his country. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1980 and dedicated 22 years of his life to military service, rising through the ranks to achieve the esteemed position of Senior Chief Petty Officer. Throughout his distinguished career, Tim served on numerous deployments, earning multiple awards and commendations for his exemplary performance and leadership.
After his retirement from the Navy, Tim continued to serve his community in Atoka, Tennessee, providing security services at NSA MidSouth in Millington, and serving as a volunteer Sheriff's Deputy with Tipton County, Tennessee.
After relocating to Southwest Florida in 2006, Tim took on various professional responsibilities including Director of Security, manager of a transportation system second in size only to that at Disney World, and most recently Operations Manager for Dolphin Transportation Specialists, a luxury transportation service in Naples, Florida.
Beyond his military and professional accomplishments, Tim was a devoted fan of NASCAR, law enforcement shows (especially Live PD and On Patrol Live), country music, and his beloved Michelob Ultra. Last, but perhaps most important, he was the family's self-appointed professional meteorologist with his weather fixation, paying special attention to tornados and hurricanes.
Tim is survived by his wife, Pamela, daughter Ashley (Travis) McCulley, son Timmy (Ashley) Montgomery, and stepdaughter Michelle Johnson. Mother Lou Montgomery, brother Rick Montgomery, and sisters Sheila Jones, Sandy Montgomery (Richard Moulder) and Barbara (Chris) Cox. Grandchildren Raelyn McCulley, Dylan McCulley, Dalton McCulley, Liam Montgomery, Lily Montgomery, Jace Johnson and Savannah Johnson. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father Harold Montgomery, twin brother Jim Montgomery, brother-in-law Charlie Jones, uncle Tim Haskett, grandparents Richard and Laura Haskett, and grandparents Lewis and Hazel Montgomery.
Tim did not want a formal service, and we are honoring his wishes. He was determined to have a Naval burial, and his ashes will be spread by the Navy in the Mediterranean Sea.
Tim will be remembered not only for his service to our country but also for his kindness, humor, and unwavering spirit. He lived a life of purpose and integrity, and he touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten, and his memory will be loved and cherished.
In lieu of flowers and cards, please consider donating to his favorite charity, Tunnels to Towers, at t2t.org in Tim's memory.
