Veldon Landis, 78, Noblesville, passed away Friday, February 27, 2009 at home. He was born July 15, 1930 in Hamilton County, Indiana to the late Vernon and Harriet Landis.
Veldon was a skilled carpenter and home builder, and was retired from Monroe Custom Utility Bodies in Mt. Comfort, IN. He had also worked for Don Hinds Ford for 10 years.
He was a 1948 graduate of Carmel High School; and a member of the Indiana National Guard, whose group won an Eisenhower Trophy. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors, and was a member of the Central Indiana Antique Tractor Club. He also enjoyed horse trail-riding; building and flying model airplanes; piloting airplanes; and was an avid NASCAR fan (especially Jeff Gordon #24).
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Brown) Landis of Noblesville; sisters, Dollorece (Gordon) Overdorf of Noblesville, & Carolene (Walter) Sumner of Cicero; children Sharron Landis of Deltona, FL, Karron Monroe of Noblesville, David (Rita) Landis of Noblesville, & Valerie (Larry) Castetter of Noblesville; step-children Todd (Carrie) Brown of Ann Arbor, MI, Jeff Brown of Chicago, Andy (Kim) Brown of Noblesville, & Jennifer (Mike) Chadwell of Noblesville; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by grandson, Adam Landis.
Services will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, March 2, 2009 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home in Noblesville. Friends may call Sunday, March 1, 2:00 - 5:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
